I've decided not to buy the current crypto dip. I just don't care about speculation anymore. I now own almost zero crypto, which I hope will help me to stay objective in my opinion of it.

Star Wars Visions was a lot of fun.
Feels good to be slowly adding some new RSS feeds to NetNewswire.
cdevroe.com weighs in at approximately 5.3GB. Or, almost 1GB greater than March of last year.
Robin Sloan on Web3
I've been meaning to link to Robin Sloan's "counterweight to the growing hype" of Web3 for many weeks and forgotten. I think it pairs nicely with my link to Molly White's Web3 hype damper. Robin's piece does more than simply attempt to squash the excitement of someone curious about Web3. It is a fair and balanced argument, showing…
Moxie Marlinspike on Web3
Moxie Marlinspike*, ex-CEO of Signal, on Web3: I decided to explore some of what has been happening in that space more thoroughly to see what I may be missing. To explore Web3 he built a "distributed app" that tracked NFT derivatives and also minted an NFT that turned into a poop emoji once you added it to your…
Web3 is going just great
Readers of my blog may already be familiar with my thoughts on crypto and NFTs. To reiterate, in short; I'm bullish on blockchain, so-so on Bitcoin, looking closely at Ethereum, and skeptical about the longterm benefits of NFTs (though I think they could be a useful technology). If I had to summarize my opinion on the space in…
I double checked my OneDrive photo library back up and realized it was missing about 10,000 files. So I'm redoing that entire backup from scratch.
Tomorrow marks three weeks off of social media. It has been fantastic. I plan on writing a post about the journey so far after a full month. If you have any questions, let me know.
I linked to photographer Luisa Dorr on January 6th, Kottke did on January 7th. Just sayin'.
What I saw somewhat recently #90: January 6, 2022
At a recent distillery tasting Wow, 90 of these. I hope at or before 100 I go back through them all and pull forward some of my favorites. I hope most of these links still exist! Craig Pindell – I've been enjoying photos and the pages on his site. Unflinching Grace – A documentary about three women photojournalists….
P. I. Moore on quitting social media
P. I. Moore in continuance of my quitting social media post writes: This couldn’t resonate with me more. Through having my own plans and ambitions going forward to better both myself and my writing, the strive to regain control of what I let into my own mind—and draw from my focus—will be under vast scrutiny.
I am quitting social media
Mostly. And, for a year. Or more. What started out as a routine flushing of my social media accounts, something I’ve done on more than one occasion in the past, has now turned into a strong desire to leave social media behind for good. And so I'm doing just that. My main reasons for waiting to cut off…
Cypress for Micro.blog has received a bug fix release (thanks Manton). If you're using the theme you may want to make sure you're using the latest version. More fixes coming for Cypress.
Made some postcards in the darkroom. Sent this one to a fellow film photographer and friend in Oregon.
Finished reading The Beatles: Unseen Archives. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great to see the timeline and old photographs.

2021 in review: blog and projects
I thought it would be fun to review what has happened this past year on my blog, what I had set out to do, and what I’ve accomplished. I’m hoping that by writing this post it will give me some clarity on what I may want to try to do in 2022. January In very early January, I…
Please send wintertime hot tub energy usage tips. I feel like a crypto miner over here. 🥵
Pure – A minimal theme for Micro.blog
Chris Hannah: I’ve named it Pure, and that’s mainly because I wanted very minimal styling, and to have it be a pure version of a theme. For the benefit of it acting as a “starter” theme for people that want to maybe want to start tweaking a theme but don’t want to start from scratch. But also for people (like me)…
Back in the darkroom. Archiving negatives from the 40s from my grandparents and making prints and postcards.
I have an old MacBook that I’d like to repurpose. It is pretty old so I’m thinking a Linux server or file server. Any suggestions?
90-days ago or so I postulated that Meta would fire Instagram's CEO. That hasn't happened, yet. So I was wrong.
Last night, in the darkroom.
