Tumblr, falling.
How quickly things change! I’ve been praising Tumblr over the last several months because it has been an excellent tool to build The Watercolor Gallery with. And it still is, except since I began building The Watercolor Gallery Tumblr has been, well, tumbling down in the minds and hearts of some of their core users. […]

PHP Classes by Tijs Verkoyen
Speaking of RSS to Twitter (which now supports OAuth by the way) the reason I was able to update that project so easily was due to the generosity of Tijs Verkoyen who has an open source PHP wrapper for just about every API you need.

RSS to Twitter using PHP now supports OAuth
[ad#Adsense: Horiz 468] My handy dandy little script that makes it easy to parse an RSS feed and send links to Twitter using PHP just got a nice little update. It now supports OAuth and has been cleaned up quite a bit. Oh, version 1.0 is still available.

Weigh in: December 28, 2010
It has been a frigid, snowy week here in Pennsylvania which has kept me from doing the jogging I said I wanted to do last week. But I still did great on The Diet this week. My exercise routine was very thin this week. I need to make it a goal to do something active […]

I’ve cleaned up my titles
John Gruber’s lashing of the news media on the Web about their page titles reminded me that I hadn’t cleaned up the titles provided by default by my current WordPress theme. I’ve cleaned up my titles thanks to his reminder. You should too.

Export your Delicious bookmarks using Terminal on Mac OS X
Reading Jeremy Keith’s recap of the fact that Delicious is shutting down being sold off and that he wanted to pull all of his bookmarks off of the service and onto his site reminded me that I wanted to do the same thing. His example shows an easy way to grab all of your Delicious […]

Weigh in: December 21, 2010
I can’t believe that week one is already over and that I’m already doing the second weigh in. I don’t know if it is because I’ve done this before or just that this week was a particularly busy one – but time sure does fly. The results for this week are very, very good. The […]

Use your Mac with AirPlay using AirPlayer
[ad#Adsense: Horiz 468] Erica Sudan has made a nice little utility called AirPlayer (look for the download link in the list at the bottom of the page) that makes it dead simple to use your Mac as an AirPlay destination device. Sort of like turning your Mac into a TV with an AppleTV attached. I […]

The 4-Hour Body by Tim Ferriss
[ad#Adsense: Horiz 468] Tim Ferriss (whom I’ve mentioned that I met and shared a meal with once), the author of The 4-hour Work Week (which was great and is worth the read), has a brand new book called The 4-hour Body. It is getting a lot of buzz this week and Tim even put together […]

Backing up Tumblr blogs to Dropbox
[ad#Adsense: Horiz 468] With Tumblr’s recent downtime I thought it’d be very important to back up The Watercolor Gallery to my computer. I also thought it’d be good to back it up to my Dropbox account. It turns out this is very easy. Simply use the Tumblr Backup application (currently only available for Mac OS […]

You may have noticed that I relaunched The Diet page yesterday with new information, a new challenge for myself, and even a video. Yes, it is true, I’m going back on The Diet and this is my first weigh in. Lets get this out of the way; I’m currently 220 pounds. The last time I […]

CrunchGear’s iPad case roundup
[ad#Adsense: Horiz 468] I’ve found photos of iPad cases to be very deceiving. What may look like a really great case for the iPad turns out to feel very flimsy and cheap when in use. CrunchGear’s Devin Coldewey has made a video showing off a slew of cases which does a much better job of […]

What I did yesterday to focus.
Yesterday’s post Slow Down. Focus. was a pretty big hit. At least that is what my analytics tell me today. So, I thought I’d share what I did to help me focus yesterday and that I have a plan to go even further with it today. Single task app management was the key to my […]

Slow down. Focus.
The world of information is speeding up. It has been since the beginning of man. What used to take years to get from one end of a continent to the other now takes an instant of time to span the globe in all directions. This is a good thing. Now more than ever in history […]

How Tumblr is handling their downtime
Tumblr is going on its 15th hour of downtime (that I’ve noticed). In an effort to let everyone know what is going on they’ve only sent 1 tweet about it. No emails. Nothing on the "downtime" page. On Twitter they only have 40,000 followers and as far as I know they have millions of users. […]

The homemade driftwood iPad stand
[ad#Adsense: Horiz 468] My brother-in-law Perry and I made this driftwood iPad stand over the weekend while I was visiting my sister’s family in New Jersey. Reeder for Mac (beta)
The new Reeder for Mac beta is out and it is wonderful. It ties together Reeder for iPhone and Reeder for iPad (both of which I’ve bought and paid for). I’m 100% sure that I will be purchasing Reeder for Mac too – when its fully baked. My fears are being squelched. Sort of.

Why Viddler is great for SEO again
As a small company you fight battles on many fronts. All types of things demand your attention and sometimes things fall through the cracks and you miss something even if it is very important to you. That is what happened at Viddler when we didn’t realize we had incorrectly setup our robots.txt file, making Viddler […]

20 Things I learned about Browsers and the Web

Browser market share. The war that never ends.
