The Brightkite break continues…
I’m still on a Brightkite break. I’m not really sure how to quantify my feelings about Brightkite without sounding pedantic or somehow aloof. The people that work there are, no doubt, extremely concerned with the community that uses it and, from what I’ve seen, go to great lengths to keep the service up and running.

Tumblr week
I’ll be spending the rest of this week over on my Tumblr. I really need to give it a thorough run if I will ever know if Tumblr can replace my Wordpress powered blog. Join me, won’t you?
Jean-Claude Aylestock – Aurore
As performed by Viddler member Musicreator. A beautiful piece to play loudly while programming, I assure you.

Richard Leroy Walters, millionaire, homeless, lover of NPR
Richard Leroy Walters was a homeless man that lived in Phoenix, Arizona until his recent death. A retired, well educated, and apparently very wealthy man, Walters left NPR and several other organizations $400,000 each. He wanted more people to hear NPR. Thanks Richard, I’m listening.
Donovan’s Restaurant in Archbald, PA
Adding to my 2hourfavs list is Donovan’s Restaurant in Archbald, PA. Donovan’s serves breakfast and lunch and is your quintessential “hole in the wall” diner.
Although there is a much nicer, more welcoming side-entrance to Donovan’s the first time we visited the diner was through the less-than-welcome front door. If you saw it, and I will [...]

Zucchini recipes
Since the garden is beginning to bear produce I’m beginning to pull together recipes that I’ll need. Zucchini bread via Marisa McClellan and Zucchini Breakfast Casserole via Simply Recipes are two of those recipes.
First impressions of Google Voice by Paul Stamatiou
If there is anyone that can grok Google Voice, review it, and relay that information in a way we can all understand – it is Paul Stamatiou. Here is Stammy’s first impressions of Google Voice.
Music and photos are not accessible from the Media Browser
If you, like me, recently updated to a new Macintosh – you may have had this issue. It turns out that if you upgrade your version of Mac OS X to the latest version, install the latest iLife 09 updates, and use Migration Assistant to move from your old Mac to your new one – [...]
“Lost 1lb. in one week” – Good advice from Made Fit TV
This can not be stressed enough. Slow, consistent weight loss is much more healthy, much easier to maintain, and a more realistic goal than all of the get-thin-quick diets you see advertised at 2am on TV.
Made Fit TV’s Jennifer DiDonato is an expert in the field of fitness. She recently a no-brainer video and blog [...]

Code Igniter vs. CakePHP – An overview by Jonathan Snook
Speaking of Code Igniter, Jonathan Snook (way back in March 2007) compared it to CakePHP. Although both frameworks have matured slightly since then, this overview still holds up ok – although he is a fan of CakePHP where I’d choose Code Igniter. Thank goodness for choices.

The LOST panel at Comic Con 2009 video
After digging around I managed to find these videos, from YouTube user TVOvermind, and I thought I’d share them here – in four parts (since such is the limitation of YouTube).
Part one.
Part two.
Part three.
Part four.
Update: Part 5 provided by Tostie14.
I’m all at once excited about the last season and sad that this will be the [...]
Green Bell Pepper preview
Try saying that five times fast. Green Bell Pepper preview… Gree… Nevermind. Someday very soon I’ll be posting an update about our garden – for now, here is a preview of how well our bell peppers are doing.
Also of note: Chili peppers are, as the rumor was, very hot.

Early 1800’s Stone Mill
Leah, the curator at House Obsession, recently visited an early 1800s Stone Mill located in central Pennsylvania. You may file this under ‘could stare at all day’.
Since she doesn’t link to the full-sized photos from the images themselves, I’ve done so here. I hope this is ok Leah.
Full sized photos: Stone mill, stone bridge, bookshelves, [...]
The new NPR.org
NPR.org is getting a facelift on July 27th. As a way to promote the new redesign, allow people to see it, and to give feedback, NPR has created this promotional video and put it on YouTube. The video shows Scott Simon, one of NPR’s hosts, going through the site for the first time and describing [...]

Kyle is back
Viddler all-star Kyle Slattery (right) is back from his semester in Germany. He’s already back at work and back to eating Gombos from The Goose. We’re happy to have him back and to feed him.
Oh yeah, Rob Sandie is in this photo too.

“Is anyone still reading feeds?” – Josue Salazar
Long-time friend Josue Salazar asks, via Twitter: “Actually, is anyone still reading feeds? I bet many mainly live off of content people are tweeting links about. Sensational content != good.” Sounds familiar.
