All popular social media platforms are willing to do everything they possibly can to exploit people's deepest feelings. Facebook is likely the worst actor insomuch as they are the largest and have the deepest roots at this point. Obviously this includes Instagram. TikTok seems to be a place of real danger as well.
I've been an advocate of social media platforms for decades. Asking my family to join many of them to make it easier to connect and share. I regret doing that. Private group chats with my family and friends was and is more than adequate to stay connected to one another. In fact, it works better than what current social media platforms offer.
I'm now at a point where I believe social media is a public health threat.
