Jordan McChesney, writing for PetaPixel:
Then, around June of 2020, something changed. I decided to focus less on what my fellow photographers thought, and decided to focus more of my attention on myself. Since then, I’ve spent more time adding products to my shops, including images that I’d previously considered as ‘not portfolio material’. To my surprise, a number of these images turned into my best-selling images.
It’d be flippant for me to say that this is easy. When I’m able to do as McChesney says and focus on creating images that I like, I’m so much happier for it. I have to constantly remind myself of that but I’m doing pretty good lately. I’m slowly adding new images to my website that I like – not what I think others will like or even buy. And I’m totally cool with that.
