S. Robert Powell, Ph.D. is the President of the Carbondale Pennsylvania Historical Society. He is one of the foremost experts in the history of the railroad in the northeast and the economic, technological, and cultural impact the wealth and energy extracted from this area had on the entire United States. He has been tirelessly researching, archiving, and presenting this history for decades both online and off. Dr. Powell has published much of his research including thousands of pages of information on Archive.org.
I’m very grateful to Dr. Powell for agreeing to sit for a portrait. We ended up spending the better part of a day together discussing the history of the area, looking at several items in the Society’s collection, and making these photographs.
The above framed, signed 11×14″ gelatin silver print, along with several other prints and scanned files and negatives, are being donated to the CHS to have for their archives.
