Looks like my recent switch back to Google Chrome is already paying dividends. The Gmail team has now moved a much loved lab feature that allows you to drag and drop images from your desktop onto a new message and have it automatically attach and/or insert directly into the message out into the open.
I just gave it a whirl using Chrome (which is the only browser it works in currently) and it works beautifully. If you drag the image into the ‘image well’ it will simply attach the file. If you drag the image into the message composition area it will insert it directly into the message.
Funny how something that desktop mail clients have had since the late 90s makes us all geeky excited here in 2010 but the feature is much appreciated nonetheless.
