Glucose level measuring smart contact lenses by Google[x]

We’re now testing a smart contact lens that’s built to measure glucose levels in tears using a tiny wireless chip and miniaturized glucose sensor that are embedded between two layers of soft contact lens material.

Whatever we think about Google these days this sort of thing is amazing. I’m with Shadoe Huard when he wrote, on his blog:

Even if every Google venture ends up the vessel of a dystopian ad-monger, their mere existence transforms technologies we can imagine being only at the furthest horizons into the tangible.

Google is pushing things forward whether we like them or not. And that will turn out to be good for everyone eventually, regardless of how they misuse that innovation.
