DuckDuckGo for Mac in private beta

DuckDuckGo:

So today we’re excited to announce the beta launch of DuckDuckGo for Mac, with DuckDuckGo for Windows coming soon. Like our mobile app, DuckDuckGo for Mac is an all-in-one privacy solution for everyday browsing with no complicated settings, just a seamless private experience. Plus, we’re excited to share some new features we think you’ll love.

This browser looks like a nice alternative to Brave.

My allegiance to any browser shifts as I get bored, or as one releases a build I do not like, or as I switch platforms. Currently, I’m back on Safari. It is fast, simple, and very integrated into macOS and iOS. I switched away from Brave mostly due to the number of ads it shows. Yes, I was earning BAT (a crypto token that Brave created to reward your attention) but it wasn’t enough to keep me in living in Adville.

For instance, using my phone I’d see an add about once every 10 minutes (I have no idea the actual amount of time between ads, but this is a guess). The ad displayed as if it were a text message. Which is very weird. You’re showing someone a website on your phone and a “text message”, that is really an ad for some obscure crypto wallet (or worse), shows up and you have to dismiss it by flicking up.

It began to feel icky. So I ditched it back to Safari.

I’ll wait for DuckDuckGo for Mac to enter public beta before I give it a spin. But, like Apple, DDG is a company I trust w/ my browser activity. So it could be a good alternative.

Can Apple just buy DuckDuckGo already?
