Robin Rendle on blog post titles
May 8, 2021
I love it when blog post titles are indecipherable to search engines. There are exceptions, like when you want to document a technical thing and so you should have a blog post title describe that but the majority of the time I feel like blog post titles should sound like the chapters of a book: cool and not entirely obvious what they’re about.
I think Jeremy Keith does this in a fun way.
@cdevroe I really like this idea, though my only concern would be someone new to your blog scanning your archives to see what you write about, and not being able to get an idea from the titles. Tags could probably supplant the titles to an extent, I suppose?
@pimoore I agree. It is a lovely idea – you could get very creative with titles – but you’re not going to get many readers (unless you’re well known already, which Robin is for this fantastic post: http://www.robinrendle.com/essays/ne...)
@leonp @cdevroe Agreed, it seems like it would be much easier when you have a well established base and reputation, but I love the idea regardless. I have that essay of Robin’s bookmarked, one of the most unique posts I’ve ever seen.
