Ranging from interesting to weird, the Consumer Reports Vintage photo gallery is an entertaining resource to look through. With images dating from the mid-1930s until the 1980s this gallery is a collection of some of the photos of the CR cataloging their research.
They say these images show the "ingenuity of [their] testers". This one I found (pictured) makes me beg to differ.
