Todd Troxell, our "Super System Admin" at Viddler whom we also call The Todd, recently wrote a script for destroying bad queries while we were receiving an incredible amount of bad requests the other day. I called it a whack a mole script and told him he should blog about it… he called it "how to keep an ovrloaded db running".
