When galaxies collide

An international team of astronomers have surmised that Andromeda, the galaxy closest to our own Milky Way, suffered a head-on collision with another galaxy some 210 million years go – resulting in what is now an odd-shape for a galaxy.

Now that is what I call a Cold Case solved. And, as an aside: if Cold Case covered topics such as this, it might actually be a good show.
