I’ve got one ball

Upon reading the title of this post, you’re probably escorting your children out of the room before continuing to read it. But I can assure you, the title is intentionally deceiving.

For years I’ve been tied to some type of desk. Obviously having a laptop helps me “unplug” every now and then. But, being in an office chair for many hours per day, can take its toll – and I was ready for change.

So, I decided to do what others have done. I purchased a “body ball” to use as a chair. For $11 at Walmart, I figured it wasn’t much of an investment to give it a try.

The ball

The ball in question

This being my second day “on the ball” I thought I had enough of an impression of what I like, and what I do not like. I like that it ends up forcing better posture, forces me to hold my shoulders up on my own, and ultimately works my legs and abs over the course of the day. I dislike that its harder for me to have my feet up (which I’m starting to rectify with an elaborate system of… nevermind).

I’m already finding myself much more comfortable on the ball and I sometimes play around with balancing and such. Sometimes, this ends up in me being on the floor with the cats.

I hope to stick with the ball, at least for awhile.
