Making soup

November 14th, 2008

When I saw Garret Murray’s Flickr group called My Day, Yesterday it immediately struck a chord. Be sure to watch Garrett’s inaugural video that started it all. Not only did it remind me of MeToday photos and videos (which I miss doing, btw), but I simply loved the style. So I’ve procrastinated doing my own My Day, Yesterday video because – well, I haven’t had the time.

Tonight, Eliza is out and I’m home by myself. I’ve had to fend for myself. So, I made some soup from some of the stuff I found in the kitchen. Here is a video, styled after My Day, Yesterday videos, but just making a single meal.

I’ve created a new Viddler group called Making. If you’re so inclined, consider contributing a Making video.

About the video quality: I only have a Flip video camera, which is Eliza’s actually, at the moment. Someday I’ll get my hands on a shiny new HD-quality video camera. Until then, suffer.

  • This is an awesome concept! I love the plain ambient sounds and the simple editing. I think I have some nifty ideas for a video of my own.

In regards to the quality of the video. I looks superb; I don’t know why you think it doesn’t. And it’s in 16:9 format; is Eliza’s Flip one of the new HD ones?

If you’re looking for a cheap and awesome point-and-shoot video camera that records in HD 720p, I have listed a bunch of them on my blog.

    Giddy up! :)

When you get your HD Flip remember you can add an image to casing of it now.

Some what ever reason I am waiting for the group a new video group called “Eating”. I guess that would be part 2 of this video.

BTW, I think the quality of this video is good enough.

Derek: I used iMovie 08 to change the aspect ratio of the video. I think it looks better that way.

Colin, awesome idea to change the Flip aspect ratio. Did you crop it or just squish it down?

Can’t wait to see how the new Flip HD’s look on Viddler.

  • Colin Devroe says:

Jon: Just cropped. It does it automatically if you tell iMovie 08 that you are working with 16:9 video.

  • That came out really good! I definitely have to make one of these. I’ve been wanting to the tomato/basil/mozzarella sandwiches I make. Thursday!
