Same thing, different day

I agree so hard on this. Brent Simmons:

I’ve often had the thought that our social networks are the same thing every day, with just slightly different details. When I skip them for a few days, I find that I have absolutely no feeling of missing anything. Here are some things that don’t give me that same-thing-every-day feeling: making things, reading books, and talking to people in real life.

I took two weeks off of all social networking a few months ago. It was glorious.
