Random 60: I love leftovers.

Random 60: I love leftovers.

One of my favorite foods is leftovers. Pretty much anything that is leftover from the night before will do – but certain foods stand out. Some, in fact, seem to be even better the next day than they are on the first day. Soups, Mac & Cheese, Pizza, Brownies, just to name a few.

What are your favorite leftovers?

    Leftover lasagna is the best.

Lasagna is really, really good after a day or so. For sure. Now I’m getting hungry.

Favorite leftovers. hmm….I would have to say soup. All kinds.

Your broccoli and cheese soup is definitely better the second day. Almost better enough that I’d recommend making it a day before we intend to eat it.

But really, any leftover is my favorite. Because it gives me a night off from cooking, yet we still get a delicious meal.

Thanksgiving dinner has the best leftovers, by far. You get delicious turkey and other goodness for like a week, and then you’re sick of it all until the next year. Yum.

TURKEY leftovers are epic. They are even better because you can use those leftovers for other meals. Awesome!

I second this. Turkey/thanksgiving leftovers are the best. Turkey Soup, Turkey Sandwiches, pie, cranberry sauce, jello, mashed potatoes, gravy… I am hungry now.

I’m not a huge fan of leftovers, though I cannot resist leftover taco meat–it makes awesome nachos the next day. Pizza’s always good, but everything else is meh.

That is probably because you live on Gombos and I don’t think they’d be good left over.

Well, in order to have a leftover Gombo, that would mean you didn’t finish it.

Which I’m not sure is possible.

    Homemade Chicken Dumpling Soup

    • Posted October 27, 2009 at 7:27 pm | Permalink

YESS!!! I love chicken dumpling soup. I used to make chicken and dumplings and I haven’t in years. Thanks for the reminder.

    I love leftovers, too!

I recently discovered that Chicken Parmigiana is very delicious as a leftover.

Generally, any crumbed chicken is giddy as a leftover, and sometimes better than when cooked fresh.

I somewhat agree with your brownie tastes. Though, I do like them fresh if they’re made correctly. I’m not sure if I like them brick-hard though. And they’re awesome with ice cream! ;)

While I have not had chicken parm in far too long, I really do love it left over. Nummers.

Cold pizza (or reheated pizza, but only when its reheated in an oven and not a microwave) can be awesome, but otherwise I really don’t like leftovers. I’m weird, I guess.

Eliza and I have a pizza stone that we keep in the oven for reheating pizza. They cost next to nothing and yet make pizza and reheated pizza sooo much better. Highly recommended.

Chris, I completely agree with reheating pizza in the oven. Microwaved pizza is soggy and not kind on the taste buds!

Leftovers for me (all cold): pizza, corn on the cob and baked beans. MMMMMMMMM!
