Since I had to have my iPhone replaced due to dead touchscreen spots, I figured I’d take the opportunity to do a side-by-side comparison of the June 2007 iPhone’s speaker volume with the June 2008 iPhone’s speaker volume.

I’d seen you tweet about the difference in volume earlier and was really curious to hear this. That is definitely a huge difference. Wow! Any idea what it’s attributable to? Have you had the opportunity to test it against another launch-day iPhone?
Chris Clark: No, I haven’t had the chance to compare it to another launch day iPhone. The iPhone on the left is a launch day iPhone, which is my wife’s. I have a few friends that have iPhones from both the launch-day, and times since (even up to just a few months ago). I plan on comparing mine against all of them.
As to what makes the speaker so much better on my iPhone than Eliza’s, I have no idea.
