Again I had the privilege of representing Viddler. This time on Lunch Meet while at the Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco.

My appearance on The Vloggies at South by Southwest was supposed to be nearly immediately followed by an appearance on Lunch Meet – a show hosted by Eddie Codel where you’re able to discuss and demo your product.

Boy am I glad that we waited until the Web 2.0 Expo to do this, since Viddler launched version 2.0 only a day or so before Eddie and I sat down to record an episode of Lunch Meet. This meant I was able to show off Viddler’s latest features instead of just talking about them.

Eddie is one heckuva nice guy and really shows Viddler off well. We had some horrible wi-fi while in the Moscone Center, and we encountered a few bugs and mishaps due to that bandwidth problem, but Eddie did a fantastic job to show off Viddler in its best light. Since this interview there have been numerous bug fixes going on at Viddler (which I’ll note soon enough).

Thanks Eddie and the entire Podtech team for treating us so well. Comments welcome.

I had the privilege of representing Viddler on The Vloggies Show while in Austin, Texas.

I’ve already mentioned this on The Viddler Blog – I had the privilege of representing Viddler on The Vloggies while at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.

We talked about how I got Scobleized and Viddler. Watch the show below (if you are in a feed reader come to my site).

Me on the Vloggies.

I spoke a bit too fast, as I have the habit of doing. I really appreciate Irina and her entire team for treating me so well. I got to see a little bit of the behind-the-scenes processes of the Podtech team and how they put together their shows. I have to say that the amount of work that they put into each show is impressive. Each and every team member deserves kudos for the roles they play in getting each show published.

Oh, and some of them are wearing Viddler shirts now.

UPDATE: Irina and friends made the front page of the San Francisco Chronicle today. Congrats everyone. Here is the article about old and new media at South by Southwest.

And I find it pretty strange considering the source of the silence.

Quick update: PodTech and Seagate held a competition. I entered. They announced the winners. It looked like I won, but I didn’t.

But something has gone wrong.

There was supposed to be third place winner(s). They did not list a single third-place winner. A number of us asked in the comments, and on our blogs, what was going on and why no third-place winners were announced. No response.

A blogging (podcast, vidcast) community / business, such as PodTech, that does not respond to conversations that it itself starts is very strange behavior. Either they are not being notified of comments from their own blog or they are simply up to their necks with other tasks.

I doubt that any of us care about the “pocket-drives” that we may nor may not be entitled to, we’d just like our questions answered. If anyone has the ear of anyone at PodTech or Seagate, please notify them of what is going on.

Update Jan 18th @ 11pm or so: I got an email asking for my mailing address, so even though I am happy to have actually won something, I’m more happy that there was some type of response.

Not sure why this is being taken care of via email rather than answering comments or updating the blog posts – but at least progress is being made.

They announced the winners and at first glance it appears like I won. But, if you read the entry word-for-word you will see what I merely came in fourth place first.

Congrats to Christopher Penn for his win. Enjoy the prize Chris.

This being an entry into a contest to win a hard drive.

I need more storage so that… I don’t have to make rash decisions on what personal data to keep (especially photos) just because I’m running out of room on my laptop. I love using a laptop as my main computer. It’s portable, compact, and works almost as well as a desktop. Currently the main caveat to using a laptop is hard drive space. Laptop hard drives are smaller and slower than their desktop brethren and as such I find myself making decisions as to what I can “take with me” when I’m on the go.

My laptop’s hard drive is 80Gb. Currently I have 5.17Gb free on the entire drive (see screenshot). How much space is that really? Considering that one of my passions is photos – and that I have two digital cameras that each have 1Gb sticks, this means that I only have the room on my laptop to hold 5 more sets of photos from these cameras. This is very depressing to me.

I’m hoping to find a solution to this problem by switching to Aperture and having it store my full-res photos on an external hard drive, while keeping decent resolution thumbnails on my laptop’s drive for viewing when not at home.

My main reason for wanting to win the Seagate “I need more storage so that…” contest, would be so that I could keep taking photos and not have to decide what personal data to keep just because I don’t have the room to store it.
