PITTSBURGH, PA – November 2007

World Champions once again. The above is a reprise of a photo I took in November 2007 while at the worst Monday Night Football game ever – against the Miami Dolphins. It was taken from just about the furthest seat you could possibly purchase at the stadium, was one of the very few photos I managed to take during the game. I suppose it was because my fingers were frozen into my pockets.

The game ended up going to the Steelers with a score of 3 to 0. Game delaying torrential downpours that made the field into soup, lightning that shook Heinz Field, and frigid temperatures that caused many-a-cold were all factors in why the game was so horrible.

Congratulations to the entire Pittsburgh Steelers organization for a great year.

There are about seven photos that I managed to get out. I had to play with them in Photoshop a little to make me a little happier about them, which I know a lot of people have no trouble with but in general I only do minimal post processing.

I believe a few of the photos had much higher potential if 1) I knew what I was doing with a camera. I suppose that the lessons Eliza and I are planning to take will come in handy with this one. 2) I had a better camera when I was taking the photos.

The photos from Pittsburgh were taken with a Canon S2IS. Surely not the worst camera available, but definitely not as nice as our Canon Digital Rebel XTi. Somehow everything is inferior to it now – though I do enjoy the limitations set forth by my iPhone.

Recently I took a trip to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for the Steelers vs. Dolphins game (I know, I know, it was a horrible game) and I managed to take what I thought were a few great photos around downtown Pittsburgh. The day I was out shooting was a rather foggy, rainy, and generally gray day but I thought that out of the 100 or so photos I snapped that I had 4 fairly good ones. Turns out, I was wrong.

Now that I’m back home and have been able to look at my photos on my computer’s screen I don’t really like a single photo that I took. Some of them actually had potential too – but they were just slightly ill-framed, had horrible depth, or I missed ‘a moment’ by just, well, a moment.

I’m pretty bummed about not having any publishable photos from Pittsburgh. I’ll keep them in my photo library for the sake of keeping a few memories of the great time I had going to my first ever Steelers game, having been a fan since I was about 11 or 12 years old, but I just wish I had at least one good photo to show for it.
