District 9

Until today I hadn’t heard of District 9, a movie produced by Peter Jackson and directed by first-time director Neill Blomkamp, but now I’m seeing it pop up all over the place. The movie doesn’t see wide-release until August – but I have a feeling we’re going to be hearing a lot more about it before then.

Sameer Barkawi, friend and fellow geek, provides a list of things for you to do besides seeing the movie 10,000 B.C.

“1. Donate bone marrow. 2. Drink 2 gallons of milk in a single sitting. 3. Become an attack dog chew toy. 4. Host amateur acting workshops in your own home. 5. Join the Polar Bear Club.”

I guess he didn’t like it.

Me being Rocky

Viddler is running a little contest to see who can best impersonate their favorite actor and role. I’m no good at impersonations and I couldn’t find a box of chocolates quick enough to put together a Forrest Gump video, so I threw together this short snippet of me training as Rocky.

Me as ROCKY

This kinda stuff is fun to put together, I should do more of them. I used Keynote to create the “Rocky” slide, iMovie to cut up video of me punching the air and add effects, Quicktime to grab the audio from the trailer, and Garage Band to add in the audio to the movie and mix it all together. Not bad for software that comes free on all new Macs.
