In this week’s Monday By Noon article Jonathan Christopher covers establishing style guides in code to make collaboration between multiple developers easier.

Although it may seem like an anal attempt at control style guides can go along way in making a lot things easier in the project workflow. Reading through and fixing bugs in someone else’s code, less conflicts will occur when merging branches and the speed at which new features can be added are all fringe benefits.

As Jon said: “It helps with everything from readability to quality control and especially helps a team become that much more cohesive.” So, do it.

My friend Jon Christopher has just launched a new site for himself. He’s run the Monday By Noon site and brand for years yet he never had a place all his own on the Web.

It is so very important for a designer/developer, freelance or otherwise, to have their own site. Personal branding is a crucial part of doing business online. The advent of the Web has made the world an incredibly small place and so competition for work can be fierce. One way to combat that is by building a strong brand for yourself, getting information about what you’re good at out into the public, and proving value with examples.

If you are a designer, developer, entrepreneur, or just someone that wants to get their name out there; I suggest following Jonathan’s lead. Kudos Jon, nice step forward.

A new game that features Parkour. Must get demo.

I’ve had my ear to the ground regarding Parkour-related things since I featured a video about Parkour in January of 2007 on the Viddler blog.

Mirror’s Edge Launch Trailer uploaded by Joystiq

On a recent rip to New York City my friend Jonathan Christopher mentioned Mirror’s Edge, a video game where you are doing Parkour in first-person. He told me to check out the demo, but I haven’t yet.

Anyway, today I found this video on Viddler. It doesn’t show you in-game action but rather gives you a general sense for the story behind the game. After a quick search I found the launch trailer which does show you some in-game footage.

In other words, I’ll be downloading that demo later tonight Jon.
