Here’s a snippet under Hospitality regarding Stallman’s dislike of being offered help of any kind.

I can not tell you how much this resonates with me. I spent the better part of my childhood trying to move things using The Force.

I’m with Gruber – I have no idea if this will help Google and Logitech sell anymore Google TVs or Logitech Revues but I love this commercial.

This is via a ton of people on Tumblr but ultimately Garrett Murray. He says it is perfect and I think it is super fantasticly perfectly awesome. So, there.

How in the world haven’t I been subscribed to XKCD? Thanks to SuggestRSS (more on this service soon) now I am. The above is one of my favorite recent comics. The subtle details, even in a simple drawing style such as it is, are a really nice touch.

This comic shows them all on Macintoshes – which may only be partly accurate. I know that Obama has a Macintosh, Grunberg updates Twitter using Twitterrifc (either on an iPhone or his computer, I don’t know which because it seems like Greg uses the Twitter Web site quite a bit too), but I believe that Wheaton is a Linux guy.

Wild Pig, Florida – ricksege

Finally some real news! A 63-year old woman learns a lesson that many learn by feeding a stray cat; never feed a wild animal. However, Caroline Hayes didn’t feed a helpless stray cat that became a nuisance thereafter.  She fed a 176 pound wild pig.

Neighbors, who have observed the pig taking a mattress out of Caroline’s garage and ripping it to shreds, have named the pig Bruce. Cute. Rangers, who came to transport the pig, brought too small of a cage. Well played. And Ms. Hayes is trapped in her home because, well, a huge hungry pig can be pretty aggressive.

The current plan is to trap the pig and send it to a piggery for butchering. As irony would have it, Ms. Hayes is a vegetarian, so she will not be getting any sort of sweet revenge on Bruce.

You may send the bacon thisaway plz.

The lesson? Never feed a wild animal that is larger than you are unless you intend to eat it.

REJECTED!

You’ve got a love these script spoofs that have been popping up lately.  Recently we saw The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull parodied, and now we’re seeing the upcoming Batman epic flick The Dark Knight being written as if Michael Bay were set to write, produce, and direct it.

There are some gems in here, here is one of my favorites which appears in the opening sequence:

We open with a shot of The Pentagon: nerve center of the entire free world.  An American flag (CGI) flies proudly in the central courtyard.

Yep, it is a Michael Bay film alright – complete with unnecessary CGI.  The script is pretty well done, as was the Indiana Jones spoof, so check out either one of them.

You probably can’t read it, but, someone scratched the instructions to say: “Push butt. Rub under arm. Stop.”

I couldn’t think of a much better title for this link, so I used the title from the actual ManBabies.com web site.  ManBabies.com, essentially, is a collection of altered images with men holding babies but having their heads swapped.

While the purpose of this site originally was to showcase Dads with their children, and having their heads swapped, it seems to have grown outside of those boundaries pretty quickly because I find it hard to believe that all of these photos are actual father / child.

My favorites so far? There is this guy being thrown into the air and the bodybuilder – as two examples.

Monday’s stats

Take for example this passed Monday night, when the Green Bay Packer game went into overtime. Though short lived due to a long pass by Brett Favre, during the time this game went into overtime my site received hundreds of referral hits from the major search engines. Why? Because I show up on the first page on Google when you search for NFL overtime rules. These types of things happen all the time – and to nearly ever blogger.

Sometimes these trends can be predicted (which is why blogging about niches is so popular). Other times though, trends just appear out of no where.

Take for instance the most popular post on my site; Tolype Velleda. I know what you’re thinking: “How the heck is that the most popular post on your site?” Because the number of visits to this page is skewed by the fact that my photo of this moth comes up on the first page (and sometimes in the first row) for a Google Images search for the word moth. Combine that with the fact that, when clicked, the photo of the moth is only contained in a small frame above my site loaded in a lower frame. This happens, a lot.

It is funny to see where you get traffic from. Some of the searches I end up seeing a lot of referrals from are funny to me because – once and a while – I know people are looking for something completely different then the content on my site. For instance, doing an image search for ‘pot’ on Google will refer you to my post about a gift Eliza gave me. I’ve gotten emails asking: “Did you know your site comes up when I search for pot? Do you have any weed?”. No joke. And to answer those wondering, no I don’t have any weed. Ask Josue, he has some.

I could go on forever about all of the odd ways people end up seeing my site. What are some of the weird ways you’ve seen on your site?
