The Facebook iPhone application now has an address book syncing feature that will pull in all of your friend’s profile pictures and also set up their Web site URLs as fb://somethingsomething. Chris Clark, in his infinite genius, put together a helper for your Macintosh that will redirect fb:// URLs to their proper http:// equivalent.

If you’re a skimmer, this is worth reading every word – Lukas Mathis noodles the way several Operating Systems have tackled the task of creating new documents and in doing so comes up with an elegant solution to the problem.
I find the irony of the post striking. Lukas’ site is called Ignore The Code – and, in the end – he ends up ignoring the code he wrote to tackle this task.

Five years ago today: I had a video chat with Chris Clark while he was still in Perth, Australia. Now he’s somewhere in Canada or the US-west coast I think. I believe Chris was my first (!) video chat on a Macintosh but I could be mistaken.
Where ever you are right now Chris – g’day!
