Zack Inglis has replied with what might seem like a reasonable response: "I want an iPhone but I will not be getting one till the next generation.."

But, for what it's worth, here's my response to that: I got my first cell phone over 12 years ago, and have had many of them since. The way I see it, I've BEEN using first generation cell phones for 12 years. Now, finallly, someone has it right. I'm ready for the next generation, and it's here now.

Come Friday at 6:00 P.M., you know where I'll be.

JC: Objectivity is relative in this case I think. And - recently Apple announced through their demo video that iPhone can read Word and Excel docs (presumably Pages and Keynote docs too), as well as PDF. So as far as my personal business matters are concerned - between all of the open web apps available through Google, etc. I'm definitely covered.

I think that this Gen's iPhone will be somewhat of a flop. Mainly, Apple is missing a big segment of the market by not offering business apps. I think you might wanna check out the iphailure.com blog for some objective opinions on the iPhone.

Zach: Lets hope, being that I don't have much to compare them to, AT&T will suffice for my usage. And I do agree with you that the next-gen iPhone will probably be much better than this one - but I think that is far enough down to the road to be worth the purchase now.

I agree with you somewhat. I want an iPhone but I will not be getting one till the next generation. I think, like the Apple TV, this is just a foot in the door. The next one will be the real beauty.

You also have to remember, while your VoIP is crap... at&t are one of the WORST carriers in the US, although they seem to be trying to better themselves.
