In my little experience tumble and posterious are more and more turning into link blogs. And what's worse is when people tweet a link to their tumble which is all of one line and a link to a diff artcile rather than the full thing!!! Gah! Sadly making things frictionless for the useful people makes it frictionless for the donuts around us. And don't get me started on the one-click copyright stealing people...

I agree with you, though like Sameer I tend to ignore it because I'm a narcissist and I like to think I'm better than everyone because I don't care about tumblarity like they do. Honestly, you have a point. I think Tumblr has been one of the best weblog sites because of the large amount of generally beautiful content. However, these beautiful things are defiled by people's ego in general resulting in reblogging excessively with some resorting to publishing the same post multiple times. It's ridiculous. Tumblr's beauty is being diminished and that's a sad waste.

There are two camps on tumblr, and have been ever since tumblarity began. You either hate it and ignore it, installing plugins on Firefox is the easiest way, or you hate/love it and try to get it as high as possible by posting every 3 seconds and reblogging or liking everything that streams across your dashboard (which makes others more likely to do the same for you, thus increasing both parties' tumblarity).

I prefer the former.

I ranted about Tumblarity a while back. I completely agree with you. In practice, it adds little value to the Tumblr experience and for me detracts quite a bit. I'm tired of seeing random junk in my dashboard from people who are just trying to bump that number.

The irony of my rant post was so many Tumblrs reblogged it, my tumblarity reached the highest points it's ever been. If I remember right, I broke 20. Heh.
