Last night I had the privilege of representing Viddler on Net@Night, part of the TWiT Netcast Network, with Leo Laporte and Amber MacArthur. Recording episode 44 was a lot of fun. I hadn’t been on, or produced, a podcast in audio format in a very long time.
Listen right here!
We were able to cover some pretty interesting topics including some of Viddler’s most recent projects, the future of flash video on the Web, and how advertising is going in the world of online video. We also got to speak about a brand-new site that the Viddler team has recently put together, but you’ll have to listen to the show to get the scoop.
So be sure to take a few minutes out of your day, or maybe just throw this episode (MP3, 27Mb) on your iPod to listen to it on your way to work, and then come back and let me know what you thought of the show.
Thanks to Leo and Amber for having me on the show!
Hey Colin.
Just listened to this on my way home as per our request. Great show and really good to hear from you. Interesting that Viddler is Java based.
I just moved (well moving) my blog over to my own domain now and am thinking about using Viddler to do some vlogs every now and then. I’m all signed up and friended a few people but yet to do my first viddlercast(?)
Anyway, good job on the interview.
Dom: Thanks and welcome to Viddler. I’ll look forward to your first venture into the world of online video!
just heard the podcast. the java info is interesting, who would have thought! Anyway, didn’t know the commenting plugin let you do vids from the admin panel. Pretty sweet
Colin I just heard you on Net@Nite and I am completely giddy about viddler!
This tool sounds incredible, and you did a fantastic job really explaining the application of Viddler. I’m really excited about your upcoming WordPress plugin, and if their is any way I could beta test this new plugin it would make my year!!! Either way, thank you so much for your work on Viddler, I have to agree with Leo and Amber, this looks like something that is really going to take off! Good luck!
I’d love to do a write up on Viddler & the WordPress plugin on our site ITchurch.com that is geared for non-profits utilizing the resources of IT to assist in broadcasting there message. If you have any additional info or material you would suggest we post, please feel free to send it on…. I could really see this tool being used by churches which could highlight specific ministry and training opportunities at specific points in the messages….
Great product.
Listening to the podcast was literally the first thing I did this morning. That and twittering about it. Ha… Great job! Way to represent!
Very cool! It’s great to hear big names like Leo and Amber getting excited about what Viddler can do. Leo being one that is already familiar with the platform and using it, but didn’t know about video comments on videos… and he sounded crazy stoked on it.
Great job on the interview, as well. Very well spoken.
Matt: Thanks a lot! Yeah, it is definitely neat to hear, and see, people’s reaction to some of our most notable features. I’m looking forward to the day when more people use these features, and they become commonplace.
Just finished listening to the podcastâ€â€you did a great job explaining all the new Viddler features. Amber and Leo seemed really excited, as they should be. Hope to see you at SXSW.
Thanks Rob, looking forward to seeing you in Austin as well.
Colin,
I loved the show!
It was so what I was looking for that I skipped dinner with my girlfriend to finish up listening to it!
YES, that is how excited I am about it.
I have been researching video network sites for the last couple of months for solutions to a large Real Estate (Realtor) education project I am launching to my industry (NAR = 1.3m members) and I am really captivated by both the functionality of the site as well as the essence your design.
You mentioned numerous times about the API and 3rd party integration and I am highly highly interested in following up with you to expand these possibilities.
