Lightning bolt lights up the sky

Wow. We were just treated to an extraordinary display of nature. Thunderstorms, while not uncommon in our neck of the woods, typically pass very quickly. Tonight we had a thunderstorm that went on for a few hours, and is still fading slowly as I write this.

Eliza managed to video tape at least 8 really great bolts that ripped through the night sky. I’ll see if I can get her to post them up online and jot down a description for you all.

While Eliza was doing that, I was trying to take some photos of the bolts, but that is much easier said than done. Out of a little more than one-hundred tries, I was able to get these 24. Out of these 24 only a few are really good. But they were worth the effort and the wait.

Conclusion: Lightning rocks.

Hell yeah lightning rocks. There were some sun showers here but no lightning displays like you had.

You got some wicked pics too.

Yeah. We missed 90% of them. There were bolts every few seconds at points, but I ended up trashing over 100 photos that didn’t have anything in them except black night sky.

    WOW.
    That is a great shot.
Lightning and thunders scares the heck out of me.
I used to get anxiety and panicky when ever a thundestorm rolled in. But it’s all in the head man.
Took me years to control it but now when a storms comes in, I’m cool. No more panic attacks. LOL
I think I developed that anxiety when I was a little girl.
Someone told me a scary story during and about thunderstorms [made up of course!] and so I always got scared with storms. Weird.
    haha

That’s an impressive pic. Sometimes you have to snap away to be sure of getting at least one worth the trouble. x

It was a very powerful storm. It was really enjoyable to sit outside during most of it!
