I've only played with the DiggBar a little bit. I like the idea and see where they came from with it and where they want to go.

The biggest change I'd like to see is to put the shortened url in the DiggBar and leave my browser address bar alone.

As it is now, if you follow a DiggBar link then click any links in the page that comes up, the shortened URL remains in the address bar. There are obvious problems here.

Like you, I don't think the Digg crew is out to boost their numbers with this service. They are trying to make the Digg experience easier and more robust for their users. It's only a little over week in, and I expect we'll see some big updates in the near future as they continue to listen to the users.

Good post. I was about to block it, but then they announced the latest changes, and I think those are a big step in the right direction.

You're welcome Daniel. I hope Digg is able to crawl out from behind this mess and that DiggBar is all the better for it.

I think my main gripe that will remain, once the latest updates are released, is that all subsequent clicks will still have the wrong URL. It doesn't seem that there is anything you can do about that but for me that'd be reason enough to kill the project. Eek.

Hey Colin. Thanks for the thoughtful post. I'm glad that we've lived up to your trust in us... we'll keep making changes as we get feedback. Cheers.
