Devin: And that is exactly the reason I’m calling this an experiment. I’ll be posting about the results in a few months time so that we can all benefit from this type of system. Others have done it and found it pretty successful so, although I’m sure my mileage will vary, I expect this system to do two things: 1: Not be obtrusive to the current readers. 2: Generate more than ten cents.

We’ll see!

Owen: The way I see it, I’m only losing a few “displays” and almost no “clicks” on ads by eliminating those that comment on my site. I think it is a win / win, but - I’ll let you know in two months.

How has your system worked for you? Does it return enough to make it worth displaying the ads?

Seems like a clever idea but I wonder if there’s enough traffic coming in to generate clicks. If people are searching and ending up here I wonder if they’re going to be looking for ads or just something specific–you know?

Ack, there are ads!

This is sort of like what I’m doing on my own site, but with the added “no ads for commenters” idea. I think I might adopt that, too.
