Giving Instapaper a whirl

Instapaper, a read-later service by Tumblr‘s Marco Arment, has been popping up in front of me for months. I’ve seen two of my friends, Justin and Jonathan, rave about it. So I thought it was time I gave it a spin.

This morning I’ve installed the bookmarklet from the site, installed the free version of the iPhone application, created a Fluid SSB with this really nice Userstyle by Florian Holstein, and I think I’m all set up to begin using Instapaper.

  • I’ve been using Instapaper recently as well, and I’ve been liking it so far. It’s nice to be able to use the “Send to Instapaper” link in Google Reader, so I no longer have to keep marking things as unread to save them for later.

  • I have an interesting place for Instapaper. It’s most easily described as a “really save for later for really reading later” from Tweetie for iPhone, with the browser bookmarklet coming in at a close second. It’s for those articles I know I won’t find in my feed reader (for saving within) but really want to note for later because it doesn’t make sense for me to read right then and there (usually on my phone). It’s really unobtrusive and I think that’s my favorite part…
