Somewhat related to this week’s weigh in, where I mentioned habits, I found two good resources for striving to rid yourself of old habits and creating new ones.
- Installing a new habit and breaking an old one – an essay by Dr. Stephanie A. Burns
- 18 tricks to make new habits stick – A simple list of good reminders
For my diet I am hoping to rid myself of several eating habits: eating late, over-eating at any meal, not eating breakfast, and forgetting to drink enough water. I’d like to create new habits of: jogging regularly, drinking more water, adding a few exercises to my daily routine (like push-ups, core workouts, sit-ups, etc.), and keeping track of things like carbs, proteins, and fats.
These won’t all come at once. I’m hoping to tackle one at a time during the course of this diet sprint until I get them all. This week, as I said, is mainly diet and carb counting.
