Euro 2008 Twitter bots

Soccer fan? Well my friend and fellow Viddler team member Kyle Slattery just released two bots for Twitter that you can follow to get both play-by-play and goal-only updates.

“Now you can get Euro 2008 right on Twitter. For every update from Soccernet’s GameCasts, just follow @euro2008cup, and if you only want to get updates about goals, follow @euro2008scores

Simple. Slick.

The interesting, and perhaps the most compelling thing about creating a bot like this, is that you get SMS updates out of the box.  Twitter has been calling themselves a “messaging platform” since day one, and developers like Kyle Slattery are using that to their advantage.  I think this is a perfect use of Twitter.

Just a followup, I just added a new bot, @euro2008sms, which splits long updates across multiple tweets, for people following on their phones.

Cool Kyle, I’ve been watching all the games though, but I’m sure others will find it useful!
