Good points, Colin. Definitely.
We gotta remember we all lose weight differently. So if we haven't lost any weight or heck, even gained some, don't be too hard on yourselves. Might be muscle gain.
I know my legs are getting stronger now that I'm jogging so if in fact I have gained some weight, it's all good.
I'm not gonna punish myself. LOL
Just gotta keep at out goal.

Johnny-Johnny: Tomorrow's weigh in post will shed some light on what I did during the week to get the result I've gotten. Though I don't want people necessarily doing what I do, because I think everyone is different as far as what will work for them. Sure, eating less and exercise works for every human on earth - but really this is more a mental challenge than anything - and everyone deals with that differently.

Hi Colin, Enjoying following your progress, keep up the good work!
It might be useful for people if you logged the exercise you're doing as well as the calories you're taking each day.

Weigh in approaches! I'll admit, I'm nervous. I hope I lost some lbs. I trimmed off snacks and upped the exercise. We shall see soon! BTW: Is there a name for this fit club?

You didn't do too bad. So you had some "french fries". I agree, I MUST have fries with my burger, so I feel you in that dept. lol

Well... we made it! We survived the weekend. Here's comes the rest of the week! We can do it! LOL

Yes, Europeans — more specifically in the UK — french fries are called chips. Potato chips are generally referred to as crisps.

I think "Fish N' Chips" has become pretty universal, but was made popular in Europe.

England? Could be. Although even when I lived in LA there were a lot of "Fish N Chips" places (always a red building with white lettering) especially in the Valley.

I was never brave enough to go in to see if they were potato chips or french fries. :D

Salad bars are great because you can eat a ton of food and most of it doesn't have many calories.

@Troy... I think you're thinking of England.

I get ridiculed constantly for something that happened back when I was 12. On a trip, we stopped at a restaurant in Washington DC and "chips" came with the meal. I spent a good amount of time asking "what kind of chips." French Fries are oftentimes referred to as chips on the East coast (so I'm told) - as in "Fish 'n Chips" - battered fish and french fries. So I kept asking if they were potato chips or chips like "fish 'n chips" - grrrr.

Mmmmmmmmmmmm battered fish and french fries. Now look what you've done! ;) ::hungry::

This weekend was surprisingly easy for me as well. Normally the weekend is when my meal times are completely out of whack and I tend to snack a lot more than usual. Maybe it has something to do with me eating out waaaaaay too much the past week (more about this on Tuesday).

Congrats on your personal victories! I'm the same way, if it's in front of me I need to eat it. That is probably one of the hardest things to overcome but you did it! Way to go!

Also good for you and E on not eating or drinking at the movie. That's another one of my demons.

Found your blog and "the-diet" through Kristin's blog. Wouldn't necessarily call myself overweight, but want to have a more healthy diet and do more exercise. 6 months ago I also went vegetarian ^_^. Today I sortove worked out a healthier diet routine and some daily excerise to build some muscle/keep fit.

Anyways, cheerio!

Hey Colin,

I survived day one of weekend one as well - instead of "taking the easy way out" and hitting Long John Silvers or Culvers (mmmm Culvers) for meals today, lunch was Subway Club and this evening was... (fanfare) salad! Yeah, I actually ate salad for dinner. Sure I used some croutons (5 croutons is a serving, who comes up with those things???) and some fat-free ranch dressing (2 tablespoons - 80 cals) but hey.. SALAD. Whodathunk.

An interesting side note, since I have cut back on the soda and the large meals, I seem to be tasting things a lot better. AND, even enjoying a nice cool glass of water.

Amazing. See my blog for my fitday profile (dont have the link handy) - 221.8 this morning (started at 225.something)

This is great... thanks Colin for helping all of us web people finally break out of the cubicle and get fit. :)

After one week of hard dieting my stomach already got smaller and even if I don't think about the diet while eating I won't be able to each as much as I used to eat anyways.

I think each of us deserve such a meal every week, and the weekend is the best time to do it.. but remember only ONE meal not the 6 meals of the weekend :)

As I started a little earlier, and my diet is a little hard, I give myself a "prize" meal in the weekend, one meal only that I eat without thinking about calories, I think each of us deserve such a meal every week, and the weekend is the best time to do it.. but remember only

Do you have a Staple's Easy Button? You hit it and it says, "That was easy!" I'm going to tell myself that this weekend and the diet are easy, painless, and effortless. Anyone want to join me? My mantra.... That was easy. You can do it Colin. If you have a greater weight loss than me on Tuesday then I'm sending you $20! You can use your wife as a witness and I'll use my 11-year-old son as mine - is it a deal?
