Chicadee

Taken: March 13, 2012 – Jermyn, PA.

Sadly the only photos I’ve been publishing are through Instagram of late. I haven’t had the time to post process any images but I heroically opened Aperture and managed to throw this one together. Hopefully I’ll find a little more time for photography and processing over the summer.

This little guy is sitting on the broken branch of a pine tree just outside our sunroom’s window that I hang a few bird feeders on. He had a particular penchant for sunflower seeds that I had on a plate laid on the ground.

Spring is gone.

Today’s cold snowy start made me think of how much I’ll miss times like the one pictured above. I’m already looking forward to spring.

Riverside. Avoca, Ireland.

This, just one of countless interesting doorways in Ireland, was in the small village of Avoca just a little over a scenic hour’s drive or so south of Dublin City Centre.

Sunrise over County Kerry as seen from our house in Treanmanagh. Incredible.

Domenick’s Pizza

Domenick's Pizza in Carbondale

Domenick’s Pizza on Main Street in Carbondale and Jermyn are both fairly good places to get a slice. About as close to New York style pizza as you’ll be able to get in either of these towns.

Just missed

I was using Eliza’s new Sigma 10-20mm and happened upon this dragonfly. If only I realized that I had to be at least 1 foot away to truly get him in focus. Oh well, this is how we learn.

The homemade driftwood iPad stand

Homemade iPad Stand

My brother-in-law Perry and I made this driftwood iPad stand over the weekend while I was visiting my sister’s family in New Jersey. The driftwood is from their recent trip to the Oregon coast.

We followed these instructions on how to build your own wood iPad stand. With some slight improvisations to accommodate the fact that driftwood is a lot different than your average lumber.

Cost: $0.00

Pickles, almost 8.

He’s a good lookin’ dude. Hard to believe this was four years ago and that, next month, he’ll be 8.

Small honor system library in West Virginia

In West Virginia, last spring, we happened upon this small book store/library that was completely open with no one on staff at all. Just a building along a road with the door open, actually open not just unlocked, where you could go in grab a book or two. Totally awesome.

Zamboni

Five years ago today: We were at a hockey game.

Black Phoebe

Several birds have visited our bird feeder since we’ve moved into the new apartment. I have yet to get a really good capture of any of them though the opportunities have been there. I’m hoping to score a few before winter is over.

This particular bird, I think, is a Black Phoebe.

French toast made with cinnamon bread

French toast made with cinnamon bread

Like last time I used this recipe.

It was a little sweet for me (typically I do not order my french toast with cinnamon or powered sugar) but it turned out really good. The bread was from Bingham’s Restaurant (Google Map link).
