Importing tens of thousands of photos into Photos for Mac, on a maxed out 16-inch MacBook Pro, cripples the machine. It is nearly unusable. Closing the app doesn’t help because it has background processes when the app is closed.

It reminds me of Microsoft’s One Drive app. If you sync files it will _kill_ your entire wifi network’s traffic unless you yourself limit it. Why didn’t Apple put some guardrails on Photos for Mac? Or, perhaps because the computer is so new they haven’t gotten around to that yet.
