I’ve finally purchased and switched to Pocket Casts on my phone. In a week or two I’ll write up a comparison of it to Google Play Music for podcast listening but I’m pretty sure anything will be better than GPM.

@cdevroe been a long time user of PocketCast, even on iOS where it has a lot of competition. But overall user experience & feature list wise, it has to be the best.
On Android, could never find any option that came close.
@amit I used to use it heavily, but as the list grew, Castro become my default podcatcher (are they even called that anymore?) of choice.
@amit @cdevroe The thing I like about Pocket Casts is that, unlike the more popular Overcast, it lets you download individual podcasts. I could never find a way to stop Overcast trying to download everything at once.
@amit @cdevroe Especially if you’re coming from GPM, it’s no contest.
@stefp Exactly, assumption that a user either wants every episode from a podcast automatically downloaded or wants none is so misguided. The belief, it seems, is one would never decide whether to download an episode, manually only when it arrives. Well I do, for every episode.
@amit I completely agree! I have tried tons and tons of free apps but then I caved and I purchased Pocket Casts and never looked back.
@stefp I remember back before that bug existed. You may be happy to know it’s been fixed.
@adiabatic Thanks. I’ll give it another try.
